1. Chainsaw Man Set In 1997
2. Makima Was The First Chainsaw Man Character
Fujimoto didn't become a mangaka in a day. In fact, even as a child, he used to fantasize about different stories in his head. Among several of his childhood fantasy works was "Breath of the Stars," which had Makima as a character. So, while working on Chainsaw Man, he had a clear picture of what Makima would look like.
3. Inspiration For Power's Character
If you have read the Chainsaw Man manga, you know how self-centered, selfish, greedy, and arrogant Power is. She's a spoiled teenager with no love for anyone except for herself. Her character is inspired by Eric Cartman from South Park and Walter Sobchak from The Big Lebowski. Now, it makes sense why she is such a messed up character. As for her name, it is inspired by an angel of the Christian angelic hierarchy.
4. Inspiration For Angel's Character
We have Angel, a unique case among the devils who never feel any hatred towards humans. That said, somewhere, he believes humans are supposed to die in pain and suffer. His innocent face, broad and white wings, and golden halo on his head resemble Christian angels. Interestingly, his character was inspired by angel paintings of the medical and renaissance times.
5. Winning The "Manga With Most Deaths" Award
Given its popularity, it's obvious that the Chainsaw Man series has won multiple awards in various categories, including awards for the best manga, the best drawing, and the best action. But the coolest one among all would definitely be the manga with the most death awards that the series won in 2020.
6. Power Is A Devil With A Human Body
Power is a fiend, a devil that possessed a human body in a desperate bid for survival. Devils lose a part of their power in the process, but at least they avoid death, and they retain their original personality and memories, too. So, Power's devil horns aren't for show.
7. Curse Devil's Use Of Real Life Ritual
What makes Chainsaw Man so much exciting is its different devils with unique powers. One such devil with exciting powers is Curse Devil, who made its debut in chapter 24. As the name suggests, Curse Devil possesses a fear of curses. Aki Hayakawa is one of the Devil Hunters who have made a contract with the Curse Devil. Its power involving the nail is based on an actual Japanese ritual called Ushi-no-Toki-Mairi, a cursing ritual in which the nail is inserted into a tree or effigy.
8. Makima Owns A Strep-On
Makima's Control Devil powers don't just work on the characters inside the series but also on the fans. 9. Bucky, The Headless Chicken
Bucky is the Chicken Devil who made its manga debut in chapter 98. Despite not having a head, Bucky is able to speak and has human-like intelligence. But, as chickens are not frightening to humans, Bucky is not that strong.
Similar to Bucky, there used to be a real-life headless chicken known as Miracle Mike that was able to survive without his head for eighteen months. He died in March 1947 in Colorado, US.
10. Makima Getting Emotional While Watching The Movie
Makima is definitely the strongest character in the series. She also turns out to be the major antagonist in the later chapters. But she had a heart that would cry just by watching a movie. In chapter 39, Makima and Denji go to watch a movie, and she cries after watching a hug scene. The reason why Makima cried was that she always wanted to have the same bond with someone.
